TIDY TOWNS: A Tidy Towns work evening will be hed this Wednesday evening the 15th of May. Volunteers are asked to bring the appropiate implements and assemble at the Hill at 7p.m. First adjudication is just a few weeks away,adding an element of urgency to the effort.

First Holy Communion: On Saturday next the 18th May pupils from St Sinneachs National School Colehill will receive their First Holy Communion in Carrickedmond church at 11am.  This special day will be celebrated by Fr Tiernan PP. We all hope that this special day for each boy and girl receiving their first holy communion will be a one that will be remembered by each one in the years to come. We all pray also the weather will be kind on Saturday next.

Sports: The annual Community Games sports will be held on Monday evening 20th May at 5pm at St Brigid’s football grounds.  Competitions will be for boys and girls up to u-16 in track and field events and athletics. Qualifiers will take part in the county final in Ballymahon on 9th June.

Thank you: The Parents Association of Lenamore National School would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in running our Car Boot Sale recently.  A grateful thanks to Legan GAA who provided us with their grounds and Clubhouse, to ICA members who baked all the goodies and especially to all the parents who organised the fundraiser and participated on the day. A total of £1,106 was raised and is much appreciated.

CLIFFORD RICHARDSON: Carrigallen’s Clifford Richardson making a big name for himself on Longford Rugby Club. Clifford Richardson son of Mervyn & Gladys Carrigallen of Jet Wash Carrigallen a member of the Buccarees Rugby Club in Athlone has transferred to the Longford Rugby Club. His brother Keith Richardson has played a number of seasons there and was player of the year in 2000. Clifford has played the League Campaign and reached the promotion play offs but unfortunately lost play off. Closest promotion opportunity for club to date had a great winning run in the Leinster Provisional Towns Cup , one of the longest and oldest running cup competitions in Irish rugby. Reached the final for the first time since 1932 for the Longford club which was a great occasion for the club and all its members. Nominated and won Longford Rugby Club player of the year 2013.Clifford is also selected for the Leinster junior rugby teams who play in the Provisional Cup Competition between Munster Ulster and Connacht.

Division 1 v Gortletteragh: Annaduff were beaten 2-5 to 1-7 by Gortletteragh in Gortletteragh on Saturday.  Niall Maxwell put Annaduff level when he scored a superb goal with two minutes remaining however Gortletteragh got the winning point in injury time. Coding for Kids for free: We are setting up a free coding for kids class in Ballinamore.  Coding is the way you build websites, computer games and Apps. Coding is very useful for kids and adults alike. CoderDojo is the organisation worldwide who want to teach kids to code for free. All the information is here www.coderdojo.com.There are over 50 coderdojos in Ireland today. We need adults and kids to email us to see if we have enough interest. We intend to have one every Saturday for 1 or 2 hours. This is open to all kids the Leitrim/Cavan/Longford/Fermanagh area. Philip completes Cycle: Cloonturk man Philip Howard returns home today after a gruelling four months in the saddle. He completed his cycle on Saturday last May 11th after cycling 12000 km from Cairo to Cape Town, in aid of Pieta House.  Philip braved it all the way on the bike not having to take to the TDA truck at any stage even when on a few occasions when he was suffering some ill-health. Well done Philip a great adventure for a worthy cause.

U16 League: Physically stronger Garadice Gaels collected their second brace of U-16 League points against Aughavas at the latter’s grounds on Monday of last week. Because of the late arrival of some of the home side’s players the first half was played as a nine-a-side. Feast of Ascension: This feast day was celebrated on Sunday last which is normally celebrated 40 days after Easter.  It is one of the several feastdays in the Church’s calendar which has been moved to a Sunday so as to enhance its celebration. Usually celebrated on a Thursday it was always a day off school for the children.
